Arimatheans help those parishioners who are in the grieving process and who have little or no family in the area. They support these people by attending wakes and funerals. They serve as readers, ushers, pallbearers, altar servers, and assist the funeral director, as needed.
The word “Arimathean” comes from Joseph of Arimathea in the Bible, who gave up his own tomb for Jesus. By simply being there, you can be Christ to others in their time of difficulty. No one should walk that final mile alone.
